River Mahadayi originates in Bhimgad’s east, flows through it, and leaves it in its western edge to enter Goa. The rainfall ranges from as high as over 3800 mm in its west to less than 1500 mm in its east. The temperatures range from a minimum of 11o C in winter to a high of 36 o C in summer. The altitude ranges from less than 100 m above M.S.L. in the Mahadayi valley (west) to more than 800 m above Ghat (in the east), the highest points being 999 m, 992 m and 1010 m above M.S.L. (in the range of hills surrounding Mendil village).
